Welcome to the website for Rome High School's Healthcare Science classes!
Healthcare Science is one of the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs offered at Rome High School. The two pathways that RHS has available under this program is Nursing and General Medicine. Both pathways begin with Introduction to Healthcare Science and Applications of Therapeutic Services, consecutively The student interested in Nursing then may take Nursing Essentials, a class taught by Northwest Georgia Technical College, which leads to a Certified Nursing Assistant license upon completion. The student interested in the General Medicine pathway will take General Medicine, which leads to a certificate as a Certified Medical Assistant upon completion of the pathway.
Healthcare Science classes are for any student wishing to pursue a career in the healthcare field. According to the Georgia Department of Labor, careers in the healthcare area will be the fastest growing through the year 2018. These classes provide students with an opportunity to gain employment after graduation and/ or an opportunity to get a head start on a college degree to further their education in medicine or other ancillary services.
